Google just announced a very functional font resource with an API which will help using custom fonts within web pages.

The repository of open source fonts that are hosted by Google and can be used in personal or commercial projects.

Once a font is clicked, there is a very detailed info provided including variants, the description of it and more.

It is the method for using the fonts included with the font directory.

The API is very easy to use: just insert a Google-hosted stylesheet and you are ready to go to use the fonts that work the same in almost every browser.

There is also a new JavaScript library named WebFont Loader which enables you to have more control over the fonts and/or use the TypeKit library.

FontPark is a fresh and huge repository of free fonts with over 70,000 items in their database.

All the fonts are categorized very well within titles like 3D, Sans Serif, curly, etc. and they can be browsed by “last added”, alphabetically or “top fonts”.

You can define a custom text where all the fonts will display that to help you better decide which font to get.

Font Comparer is a free-to-use web application which eases comparing and choosing web fonts.

It can list the fonts from both Google Fonts Directory + TypeKit and display any custom text you prefer as a heading and paragraph.

Also, you can add a background, change the font color ann apply a text-shadow to better find out how the output will look like.

Once you chose a font, Font Comparer can instantly generate the CSS to be used and the script to be included.
