At it's Google I/O 2017 developer conference, Google just announced that Android is getting official support for Kotlin programming language. Kotlin is now supported along with Java and C++.
For those who don’t know, Kotlin programming language is an open source project under Apache 2.0 license. Google calls it an awesome language which is brilliantly designed and mature. The company also adds that Kotlin will make Android development faster and fun.
The developers can download Kotlin plugin in Android Studio 3.0 and start playing with it.

Developers should also note that Kotlin compiler emits Java byte-code. Kotlin can call Java and vice-versa. This brings a flexibility to add as much as code one wants to the existing code.
